Transition FAQs
As ActivStyle moves forward under new ownership, we understand that you may have questions about what this means for you. This FAQ is designed to provide clear, up-to-date information on key topics, including our new parent company, any changes to benefits, roles, responsibilities, and what to expect in your daily work. Our goal is to ensure a smooth transition while keeping you informed and supported every step of the way.
Who is Sumitomo?Sumitomo Corporation is an integrated business enterprise with a global network of 128 offices in 66 countries and regions. The Sumitomo Corporation Group consists of approximately 900 companies and 80,000 employees on a consolidated basis. The Group’s business activities span nine sectors: Steel, Automotive, Transportation & Construction Systems, Diverse Urban Development, Media & Digital, Lifestyle (includes Healthcare), Mineral Resources, Chemicals Solutions, and Energy Transformation Business. Sumitomo Corporation is dedicated to creating value for society under the corporate message of “Enriching lives and the world,” based on Sumitomo’s business philosophy passed down for over 400 years.
Sumitomo is endeavoring to improve health outcomes and provide greater access to healthcare resources. ActivStyle’s mission and culture closely aligns with Sumitomo’s business philosophy, and we will seek to collaborate to expand the platform.
You won’t notice any cultural changes at ActivStyle. ActivStyle will operate as a stand-alone company. Sumitomo is known for investing in companies for the long-term and supporting their growth while valuing employees. We will be able to operate with additional flexibility and employee focus by narrowing our scope to ActivStyle’s business rather than needing to fit into a much larger corporation. While Sumitomo is thrilled to support us as a new subsidiary, our leadership team will remain in full control of how we operate day-to-day. This acquisition gives us the resources and stability to continue growing while staying true to what makes our company unique. We are not only reclaiming our identity but will be positioned for even greater success with the backing of a global partner.
The acquisition of ActivStyle will allow us to transition away from the AdaptHealth culture and reestablish an ActivStyle-centric corporate culture. We are excited for the opportunity to center our mission around empathy and quality patient care.
Together, we will establish:
- Our Mission – Align the company’s goals with the empathy and care employees show for patients, emphasizing that every role supports the mission of improving patient lives.
- Our Values – Establish values like respect, compassion, integrity, and teamwork, and ensure they are lived daily, not just displayed on a wall.
- Employee Empowerment – Empower employees to make decisions that benefit patients while trusting their judgement and expertise.
- Open Communication – Two-Way Dialogue and Transparency related to employee concerns, ideas, feedback, organizational changes, goals, and challenges.
- Recognition and Appreciation – Regularly acknowledge and celebrate employees’ individual contributions and team successes.
- Empathetic Leadership – Leaders should model empathy and respect in their interactions with staff and lead by example. Ensure that managers are accessible and genuinely care about their teams’ well-being.
- Supportive Environment – Offer flexible work options and mental health resources to prevent burnout and support employees holistically.
- Inclusive Culture – Foster a culture where diversity is celebrated, and all employees feel respected and valued.
For the past 5 years, ActivStyle has been integrated into AdaptHealth’s operational systems. As a stand-alone company, ActivStyle will now have the opportunity to reestablish its own operational systems that better “fit” our business, as well as enhance existing systems like CarePro to provide even better service to our patients.
During the acquisition transition window, between signature and close, our leaders will be focused on our operational infrastructure to assure a smooth transition away from shared systems with AdaptHealth to our own systems such as, financial tracking systems, payroll and benefits software, IT infrastructure, licensing, and credentialing.
