New York Life-Group Benefit Solutions (NYL-GBS) Voluntary Coverage

How do I apply for Voluntary Life and AD&D insurance?

You can access the application through Insperity Premier > My Account > Benefits > Voluntary Benefits > Apply Now

You will have until 05/30/2025 to secure up to 3x your base salary with guaranteed issue (no need to provide medical information).

What is the effective date of Voluntary Life and AD&D insurance?

The coverage effective date will be the latter of your eligibility date (5/01/2025) or the date that your application is accepted by NYL-GBS. However, no retro deductions will be taken.

I applied for coverage on the NYL-GBS site, why does the Insperity portal still show “Learn More”?

Insperity receives deduction details from NYL-GBS once monthly. Therefore, it could be 2-4 payrolls after your coverage effective date before you will see deductions, and before the coverage reflects “ENROLLED” on your Insperity Premier portal.

Is Disability coverage available?

Yes. Voluntary Disability coverage is available through NYL-GBS. Coverage information can be found in the blue NYL-GBS booklet. The application is available online through Insperity Premier.

When will my payroll deductions begin for Voluntary Coverage?

Payroll deductions can take up to 60 days after NYL-GBS approves coverage.

Do I have to answer the health questions on the NYL-GBS paper application?

If you apply for more than 3x your annual earnings (max amount of $500,000), yes.

If you apply after the 30-day guaranteed issue period, yes.

Who can I talk to if I have specific questions or concerns?

Your supervisor is your first point of contact. You can also speak with the contracted on-site HR representative or ask questions via the feedback form at the bottom of this page.
